History

October 2012 Established by the consolidation of Asahi Electric Works Co., Ltd., Inoue Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Furukawa Power Components Inc., and the electric components business units of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.
Changed company name to Furukawa Electric Power Systems Co., Ltd.
Started operations as a total power equipment manufacturer that covers the entire power supply network from power plants to consumers.
April 2013 Succeeded the businesses of the F-CO Products Division and Electric Feeder Division of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. through a company split.
August 2014 Relocated the Chubu Branch Office (Naka Ward, Nagoya City)
September 2016 Completed construction of new factory building (processed products factory) in Ebina Works.
November 2016 Relocated functions of Yokohama Works to new factory in Ebina Works.
January 2019 Established Yamato Works (relocated the Hiratsuka Factory for processed products of the High Performance Products Division).
January 2021 Relocated Tianjin Furukawa Power Component Co., Ltd. (Xiqing Economic Development Area, Tianjin, China).

Former Asahi Electric Works Co., Ltd.

June 1946 Founded as a lab facility of the Faculty of Engineering, Keio University.
July 1948 Established as Asahi Electric Works Co., Ltd. by Dr. Taro Mori (PhD. in engineering)
April 1967 Established Nagai Works (Yamagata Prefecture) (started operation in 1968).
December 1969 Established Kumamoto Works (Kumamoto Prefecture) (started operation in 1970).
April 2003 Established Nikko Works (Tochigi Prefecture) and started operation.
March 2010 Became a 100% subsidiary of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.

Former Inoue Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

October 1919 Started business in Yokohama as Inoue Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
December 1957 Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. became a shareholder.
February 1968 Established Ebina Works (Kanagawa Prefecture) and started operation.
October 2008 Became a 100% subsidiary of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.

Former Furukawa Power Components Inc.

May 1963 Established as the former Burndy Japan with investments from the former Burndy (U.S.), Furukawa Electric, and Sumitomo Electric Industries.
April 1965 Started operation of Yokohama Plant.
December 1980 Started operation of Ishioka Plant.
September 1993 Joined FCI (France).
January 1999 Changed company name to FCI Japan Co., Ltd.
December 2000 Relocated the Electric Power Division to Yokosuka Works
November 2005 Changed company name to FCI Japan.
February 2008 Transferred the Electric Power Division to Furukawa Power Components Co., Ltd.
Became a 100% subsidiary of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.
